Fall in the Chattanooga area is stunning, especially at peak fall foliage time. If you're seeking amazing landscape views, I have a three recommended short hikes in the area.
1. Big Soddy Gulf Creek Trail, Soddy Daisy
Located just 20 miles north of downtown Chattanooga, easily accessible via Highway 27.
Ample parking in two separate lots for convenience.
A pleasant 2.5-mile hike along Soddy Creek with benches and picnic areas.
Mild uphill climb, suitable for all ages.
Scenic gravel path through diverse tree-lined landscapes.
Optional trail extension beyond a wooden bridge for a deeper woodland experience.
Encounter nature enthusiasts of all ages, adding to the peaceful ambiance.
BONUS: This area is popular for panfish and trout. Learn more here!
2. Falling Water Falls Natural Area
A quick, scenic drive to Signal Mountain leads to a short 1/2-mile hike.
Panoramic views of the Tennessee River Valley compensate for limited waterfall visibility.
Beautiful trailhead on Signal Mountain, but parking is limited.
3. Signal Point to Edwards Point Trail, Signal Mountain
Adjacent to Falling Water Falls, this trailhead at Signal Park offers hidden beauty.
Look for the trail on the right side, marked after the first set of stairs.
White sign markers guide the way through a 2.5-mile hike with light rock climbing.
Stunning river gorge views at Signal Point and Edwards Point.
Enjoy a suspension bridge midway through the hike, adding a unique experience.
Multiple overlooks provide ideal spots for breaks and snacks.
